Keeping a journal practice: London
The hubby and I are back from our three + weeks in London visiting family and friends. We had the chance to visit museums, do a bit of road-tripping to Folkestone and Canterbury, and eat lots of English fair like Fish n Chips and my hubby's favorite, an English Breakfast.
We brought some work along and also tried to stick to some routines like taking walks, having lemon water in the morning, and journaling (for me).
Three and a half weeks is a long time to be away from my studio so I packed a few supplies and created a little work/journaling space at the in-laws house where we usually stay.
I took limited art supplies (similar to the ones I share here), a couple of small journals, and a few sheets of inexpensive watercolor paper.
It’s easy to just bring a few sheets of paper and make your own journals. Here is a mini acrylic painting in a handmade accordion journal inspired by my morning walks in Walpole Park.
Just using up extra paint in a marble notebook.
Loose pencil and ink sketches above, and two painted sketches in darks and lights below. All inspired by a weekend trip to Folkstone with my sis and bro-in-law.
These and a few other sketches, notes, poems and journal writing entries were done with limited time and supplies. I love the simplicity and immediacy of each. It’s a lovely way to create memories, and who knows? They may inspire some future work ;)
