PPP: A Winter Journal 2026
This is a 6 session in-person class that will be held at The ArtsCenter in Carborro, on Thursdays from 10:00am-1:00pm.
Paper, Paint, Play: A Winter Journal. Inspired by the idea of Wintering—slowing down, noticing details, and being present in this quiet season—this class invites you to capture the spirit of winter through mixed media. Through a blend of guided exercises, creative play, and personal exploration, you’ll learn how to:
· Create a handmade journal
· Develop a color palette that reflects your winter mood
· Gather and curate collage papers
· Draw inspiration from master artists & the beauty of winter
· Use collage, mixed media techniques and more
PPP: Collage Explorations
Saturday, February 28, from 1:00-3:00pm-Cecy’s Gallery in Durham
Paper, Paint, Play: Collage Explorations: In this 2-hour workshop, you’ll explore collage as a flexible, low-pressure creative practice. This class introduces collage techniques through guided prompts and open work time as you:
• Work with a variety of papers, images, and textures
• Explore composition, layering, and adhesive techniques
• Create collage pieces that can stand alone or be used in journals or mixed media work
This class is suitable for beginners and anyone looking to loosen up and work intuitively with paper. All materials are provided; you’re welcome to bring personal papers, photos, or ephemera you’d like to incorporate.

PPP: Intro to Gelli Prints
Saturday March, 21, from 1:00-3:00pm-Cecy’s Gallery in Durham
Paper, Paint, Play: Intro to Gelli Prints: In this 2-hour workshop, you’ll learn the basics of monoprinting using a gelli plate to create layered, one-of-a-kind printed papers. This class introduces gelli printing techniques through guided demos and hands-on practice as you:
• Learn how to use a gelli plate with acrylic paint
• Explore layering, texture, stencils, and more
• Create a collection of printed papers for journaling, collage, or mixed media projects
This class is designed for beginners and anyone curious about gelli printing as a creative process. You will need to bring your own 5x7 gelli plate and a brayer for this class. All other materials are provided.
PPP: A Handmade Journal
Saturday April, 25, from 1:00-3:00pm-Cecy’s Gallery in Durham
Paper, Paint, Play: A Handmade Accordion Journal : In this 2-hour workshop, you’ll create your own accordion mixed media journal. Inspired by the idea of an art journal, this class will guide you through both structured exercises and open-ended creative play as you:
· Construct a handmade accordion journal that’s uniquely yours
· Play with paint, collage, and other mixed media
· Add personal touches with sketches, mark making, more collage
Whether you’re new to mixed media or looking to deepen your journaling practice, this class offers a welcoming space to experiment, express yourself, and create something personal. All Materials are included, but feel free to bring any collage ephemera or papers you may like to use.
