In the Studio: Winter Refresh
Embracing the Rhythm of the Seasons
I've always felt deeply connected to the cycles of the seasons. There's something grounding about living where the landscape shifts with time, marking the passage of the year. This rhythm has become ingrained in me, shaped not only by the natural world but also by years spent in school—both as a student and later as a teacher. The changing seasons influence so much of my life: my color choices, mood, energy, and the activities I choose—or choose not—to pursue.
As winter settles in, I feel the pull toward slowing down. This season invites a quieter vibe, one of calm, peace, and simple pleasures. It's a time for meditation, introspection, and finding beauty in the stillness. I've noticed how these winter months inspire me to refresh my creative space, to organize and prepare for a new season of making. At the start of the new year, I did just that. I spent time in my studio, putting things in their place, creating a space that feels ready for journaling, planning, and gentle play with ideas.
Winter offers a natural pause—a chance to quiet the noise, reflect, and prepare. I'm leaning into this slower pace, finding inspiration in nature's stillness and letting it guide my creative process. May this season bring you moments of peace, creativity, and simple beauty as well.
